Abstract

Nurse navigators play a crucial role in improving patient outcomes and satisfaction in complex healthcare systems. This review article aims to investigate the impact of nurse navigators on patient care and outcomes in various healthcare settings. Nurse navigators act as patient advocates, guiding individuals through the complexities of the healthcare system, coordinating care, providing education, and offering emotional support. By facilitating communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers, nurse navigators help ensure that patients receive timely and appropriate care. This review will explore the different models of nurse navigation, the skills and competencies required for effective navigation, and the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating nurse navigators into healthcare teams. Additionally, the review will examine the evidence supporting the effectiveness of nurse navigators in improving patient outcomes, such as reduced hospital readmissions, improved adherence to treatment plans, and increased patient satisfaction. Understanding the role of nurse navigators in healthcare delivery is essential for optimizing patient care and enhancing the overall healthcare experience.
