Abstract

Background: Thyroid surgery has evolved greatly, from a dangerous surgery to a safe operation with few major risks, small incisions, and favorable outcomes in expert hands. Hypocalcaemia as a result of hypoparathyroidism is the most common complication of thyroidectomy. Objective: The aim of the present study was to find out if the degree of early reduction of parathyroid hormone after thyroidectomy can predict the duration of hypocalcaemia.
