Abstract

Background: Community acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a common and serious infection worldwide and severe CAP (SCAP) is usually defined as pneumonia that requires intensive care unit admission. Although 2 _20% of CAP patients require ICU admission, the mortality rates can be as high as 20-50%.
