Expansive clays were widely occurring in India. It is characterized by its low strength and expansive nature, thereby posing a serious problem for the geotechnical engineers. In order to overcome this problem various stabilization methods were developed. Cement Kiln Dust (CKD) is a fine-grained waste product produced during the process of making cement. It has potential applications towards soil stabilization. Therefore, utilization of CKD in soil not only solves the problem of disposal but also helps in improving strength characteristics and to control volume change behaviour.
