The etiology of the disease could be attributable to genetic and nongenetic factors as hormonal, environmental, and infectious factors. Altered lipid levels have been reported in various inflammatory diseases including RA. There is an increased risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease in RA subjects than in the general population.
