This study aims to evaluate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown restrictions and school shut down on the physical activity, sedentary and sleep behavior of children and adolescents. This cross-sectional study was conducted at a school in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, South India, where students were randomly sampled. It was performed using a questionnaire that was created at Saveetha Medical College and Hospital, and was validated by a Pediatrist and a Psychiatrist, at the same hospital. The questionnaire consisted of questions in 3 categories: Physical activity, Sedentary behavior and Sleep pattern, of children and adolescents, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. 450 students across the age group of 3 to 19 years were randomly selected and data was obtained from after due consent. The physical activity levels were found to be lowered during the lockdown as compared to the pre-pandemic levels.
