Abstract

Background: Dental anxiety is defined as “an abnormal fear or apprehension of visiting the dentist for prophylaxis or treatment, and irrational anxiety about dental procedures”. Fear and anxiety in children are immediately appreciated after seeing a needle. Dental anxiety can be controlled through various ways by using non- pharmacological methods. Aromatherapy is one of the potential non-drug methods, Lavender essential oil has been known for its soothing properties for centuries, and it is one of the most effective aromatherapy oils. It stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system and reduces blood pressure and anxiety levels at the same time. Mobile gamming application have become very common and technologically very advanced in this era. Pedodontists use this as a distraction technique to reduce the anxiety and also demonstrating the use of common dental instruments like airotor, ultrasonic scalers, tooth filling material, etc.
