Synthesisandcharacterization of N-(p-nitro benzylidene)-4-hydroxyphenylethylamine (an imine) and N1- (p-nitro benzylidene)-N2-(4-hydroxybenzoyl) hydrazine (a hydrazone) were reported. In this paper we also compared the hydrolytic stability of the imineand the hydrazone. We found thataryl carboxylic acid hydrazone was inert to hydrolysis undersimulated physiological conditions (i.e.,pH 7.40 and 37 ᵒC) which led to imine bond rupture.
